Garden Party to feature celebrity bartenders, patron cabaret
Now that Pride is over, the Lesbian-Gay Community Center of Greater Cleveland is concentrating its efforts on the annual Garden Party event.
This year's event will be held on Sunday, July 21 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Cleveland Play House. Organizers this year are working hard to give this year's party an element of fun that was missing from some of the Garden Parties of the past.
As always, the Garden Party will feature a silent auction ofhard-to-find items of all types, including week-long trips to Aspen, Colorado and Devonshire, England. The party will also feature a wonderful buffet by Joe Washock, chef at the award-winning Baricelli Inn of

OF GREATER CLEVELAND
The exact timeline for
the project is undetermined. However, a public presentation will likely take place in the fall.
The Living Room is also bracing for a busy month. In addition to its weekly Gentle Men group for gay HIV-positive men, the Living Room's House Call Series will feature information on Medicaid on August 1.
The Center is also happy to announce that we are working in cooperation with the AIDS Taskforce of Cleveland on a community forum on the future of AIDS prevention in the gay communities of greater Cleveland.
This event is a precursor to the summit for AIDS service organizations on July 24, and will be held on July 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at
Numbers Night Club, 620 Frankfort Ave. in Cleveland.
The forum was created to give the gay community a rare opportunity to voice its opinions on where AIDS prevention in Cleveland's gay community should go in the future.
The AIDS Taskforce of Cleveland, the Lesbian-Gay Community Center Cleveland, Men of Color Concerned about AIDS (MOCCA), and more will be represented at this forum and will then take the concerns of the community to the summit in July.
According to Shawn Pierce, risk reduction specialist for the AIDS Taskforce, "This is a wonderful opportunity for people to become proactive in the decisions we make about AIDS prevention in the gay community." Those who have concerns or suggestions regarding AIDS services in Cleveland are encouraged to attend.
For more information, please call Shawn Pierce at 216-621-0766, or Linda Malicki at 216-522-1999.
The new AIDS treatments
are not cures-play it safe
Recent reports have stated that oral sex poses more risk than was originally perceived. For many years, we have heard that oral sex does run some risk for HIV transmission. However, oral sex is not as risky as anal or vaginal sex. Not allowing foreign bodily fluids into your body creates a lower risk for HIV transmission. Using condoms, and different techniques, reduces the risk of HIV transmission through sexual contact. Play it safe. Separate the facts from the myths.
making safer sexual decisions.
The AIDS Taskforce can assist you in getting the facts and understanding the risks. Shawn and Nancy are the two education coordinators for the gay community, at the AIDS Taskforce. If you have any questions they can be reached at 216621-0766.

of new drug therapies that are showing great signs of reducing viral loads in persons with HIV or AIDS. Please remember new therapies are not cures for HIV or AIDS. Therefore, believing that we have found a cure is not accurate information. Please continue in safe practices and help others in
A Community Forum will be held at Numbers Nightclub, 620 Frankfort Ave. in downtown Cleveland, on July 7 from 6:30 pm til 8:30 pm. The forum is designed to provide you with an opportunity to hear what is presently happening in HIV/AIDS prevention and education. Your input is necessary in order to meet the community's need. Please plan to attend and help make the HIV/AIDS prevention and education programs in Cleveland a more community involved effort.
